Have you seen yourself lately?

"Everything I see in the mirror is me,
But everything I see in me is not in the mirror,
Therefore, there is more to people than the facade they put up.

I see more in you than the front you put up- You are strong, but kind,
Yet your blackness teaches you different,
You defend yourself before you are accused,
You insist on being proper and those that don't are ghetto,
You tone yourself down as if to say; I'm sorry I'm black.

Does this offend you? Well You offend me.
I am a proper black woman,
At times I'm loud and snap my fingers when heated,
I walk with a twist and my attitude could use adjusting.
I am black, so get with the programme.~ Milo Mael

The question you should ask yourself is; what do you see in the mirror. Is it the image of yourself or the image society has given you? Only you can decide who you are. Make it a wise choice.

A Cup of Tea For My BGs

Image rights unknown.

If you thought being black put you at the bottom of the food chain, think again. There is power in your skin and bones alone. Your people have been through it, seen through it and fought their way to the top. Your skin is black, therefore it is bold, if it is bold, it cannot be ignored, if it cannot be ignored you are like light, if you are light, then you can shine bright. So keep shining my sisters and forget not who you were, who you are now and who you would like to become for they all encompass and foreshadow the legend that is you.
